Seeking Alpha With Quality Jobs
At WORC (Workforce & Organizational Research Center), our mission is build and support an economy where every worker has a job worth having. While poor-quality lower-level jobs are commonplace today, it’s not inevitable.
WORC is seeking philanthropic funding for a groundbreaking research study, “Seeking Alpha with Quality Jobs.”
Rigorous research done at WORC and elsewhere has demonstrated time and again that improving job quality helps boost companies’ business results through reduced hiring costs, increased sales and labor productivity, and better operational results.
Some innovative private equity investors are seeking above-market returns (alpha) by working with their portfolio companies to improve job quality as a lever for value creation. How do these firms leverage the highly-efficient decision-making apparatus that characterizes private equity to make jobs better for business impact? What returns do they achieve? How can other investors implement a strategy to seek alpha with quality jobs?
