ImpactAlpha Features WORC’S CEO, Ellen G. Frank-Miller, PHD On The Quality Jobs Investment Strategy Taking Hold In Private Equity
“What we see, time and again, is that better jobs lead to better business outcomes and investment returns…the science is solid, the correlations are real.”
— Ellen G. Frank-Miller, PhD, WORC and Tom Woelfel, HCAP Partners
WORC’s Founder and CEO, Ellen G. Frank-Miller, PhD, was featured in ImpactAlpha on July 27th, 2023. The article, “In a Strong Labor Market, Investors Look for Companies to Outcompete through ‘Quality Jobs’,” by Dennis Price, raised awareness of a growing trend in private equity investing: using the untapped value of the workforce to drive investment returns.
Research by WORC and many others demonstrates that when companies prioritize the well-being of their workers, those workers perform better in their jobs and ultimately raise the bottom line. WORC is grateful to the Innovation Resource Center for Human Resources for generous support that enabled us to write the original piece.
All investment strategies are reflections of the values and priorities of the investors who make them. Those strategies can and should benefit the real people on the ground making those investments worthwhile, and an effective way to do that is make their jobs worthwhile.
WORC’s investigation of the role of human capital management in private equity value creation continues thanks to generous support from the Ford Foundation Mission Investments team. Read more about this ongoing research here.
